Description
Our melasma kit includes four products for managing common skin conditions like melasma and hyperpigmentation. The effective lightening ingredients hydroquinone, kojic acid, and more are combined with other powerful ingredients like tretinoin.
This kit involves four products – the application of a mask followed by the daily use of a maintenance cream, cleansing face pads, and a moisturizing cream.
How is the Kit Used?
After cleansing the skin, the melasma mask is applied to the face. The cream for the mask should be evenly spread over the entire face, starting with the areas of concern and then spreading out to the unaffected areas. Avoid getting close to the eyes. Make sure the mask is not applied too thick or too thin. After the mask is complete (the time will vary depending on your skin type and doctor’s instructions), it should be washed off completely. The peptide cream should then be applied to the entire treated area.
After the mask, the maintenance cream should be used daily following your doctor’s instructions. Then follow the maintenance cream with the peptide cream. Treatment should be continued per instructions but may last between 12 weeks to 6 months.
What are the Ingredients?
In the four products in the kit, there are a variety of effective ingredients for treating melasma. These ingredients are used for lightening, improving skin cell turnover, cleansing the skin, and moisturizing.
- Azelaic acid – Lightening ingredient with comparable efficacy to hydroquinone.
- Hydroquinone – Primary skin-lightening ingredient that slows new melanin production.
- Kojic acid – Also inhibits melanin production to help lighten skin.
- Tretinoin – Improves skin cell turnover to allow new, undamaged skin cells to grow.
- Hydrocortisone – Reduces irritation from other ingredients.
- Salicylic acid – Improves skin cell turnover. It also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
- Sulfacetamide – Antibiotic used to clear the skin and prevent and treat acne.
- Clindamycin – Another antibiotic used to keep the skin clear of infection.
- Hyaluronic acid – Moisturizing ingredient.
- DMAE – Cosmetic ingredient used for antioxidant and hydrating effects.
Side Effects and Evaluation
After using the melasma mask, the skin may have a slight pink tone. Some patients will experience light flaking and irritation. The skin may also feel tight and slightly warm. The peptide cream should help with any dryness however if any of these symptoms become severe the patient should tell their doctor.
