Estriol Cream

Description: Estriol (E3) is one form of estrogen hormone along with estradiol and estrone. Although it is considered the least potent form of estrogen, it has been shown to be effective at managing menopausal symptoms. It has most frequently been prescribed to treat the vaginal symptoms of menopause such as vaginal atrophy.

Delivery of estriol to the vagina with a cream is preferable to an oral form of the medication for several reasons. The first is that local application has been shown to more effectively treat vaginal symptoms. Another reason is that vaginal application does not require co-administration with progesterone to prevent estrogen dominance.
