Description:
This combination of ergotamine and caffeine is used to treat migraine headaches when they occur. The medication should be used as soon after an attack starts to be the most effective. In general it is prescribed for patients who experience more severer symptoms. Migraines are thought to be related to vasodilation and inflammation of the trigeminal nerve. Both ergotamine and caffeine act as vasoconstrictors to reduce symptoms of a migraine attack.
