Scopolamine Nasal Spray
Formulation:
Scopolamine 0.2mg/0.1mL nasal spray
Scopolamine 0.4mg/0.1mL nasal spray
Intranasal treatment to prevent motion sickness.
Description: Scopolamine is a drug that has been studied for over 50 years in the treatment of motion sickness. Various forms including tablets and patches have been available. No nasal formulations are currently available except through a compounding pharmacy. Intranasal administration has been studied by NASA for use in astronauts to prevent space motion sickness. This route offers a faster onset with more rapid absorption.
Scopolamine nasal spray can work as quickly as 22 minutes after administration, which is about twice as fast as the patch. The patch is effective but it is administered slowly over time.
