TMJ Pain Cream
Formulation: Ketoprofen 20%, Cyclobenzaprine 2% Cream
Description: Temporomandibular joint pain and other types of facial pain can be acute or chronic. For example, pain in this face area may occur if a patient needs to keep their mouth open for a long time during a dental procedure. After the procedure, the pain gradually subsides. Some individuals, however, experience chronic pain in this area. It may be due to overuse, grinding of the teeth, or to an injury. Whatever the case, pain relief is essential in either an oral or topical form.
A TMJ pain cream contains two effective ingredients for reducing pain when applied topically. It works by reducing pain in the masseter muscle and the temporomandibular joint. Applying these drugs topically reduces systemic effects by keeping the medication primarily in the area being treated. Topical medications bypass first-pass metabolism and avoid gastrointestinal effects. This pain cream is primarily used to treat acute pain that comes from, for example, keeping your mouth open for a long time when you are in the dental chair.
Ingredients
Ketoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It helps reduce pain throughout the application area.
Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant. Tightness of the facial muscles is one cause of the pain associated with TMD.
